Values

What are Schwartz's basic human values and why do they matter?

Shalom Schwartz identified ten universal values (self-direction, stimulation, hedonism, achievement, power, security, conformity, tradition, benevolence, universalism) arranged in a circle where opposites conflict. Anthropos uses this circle to explain why, for example, tradition and self-direction pull against each other inside the same person.
